Description
This trail is one of 67 wheelchair accessible trails across Switzerland described on the Mobility International Switzerland website:
The departure point for this route is the Badische Bahnhof railway station in Basel. The Lange Erlen wildlife park, the Dammweg along the river and the open landscape in Riehen ensure a varied and unforgettable tour. From Badische Bahnhof railway station, the route leads through the interesting outskirts of the city directly to the public wildlife park of Lange Erlen. A wide variety of colourful, fascinating and proud inhabitants invite you to spend some time here. Marvel at capuchin monkeys, a wide variety of birds and even woolly pigs in this well-tended and spacious park. After the park you reach the banks of the River Wiese. On one side, an easy path leads into shady open forest and on the other along the lush-green river bank. An idyllic place where you can spend time watching the small cascades of water. Along the way you’ll find ideal spots to take a break, rest and relax. After a break on a wooden bench, a small bridge or in a cosy club locale with views of the river, you continue on your way and soon reach the end of the Dammweg. Here the route branches away from the river towards Riehen. The scenery changes, offering breathtaking views of extensive flower-filled fields and meadows until you reach the centre of the village.Accessibility Information
