Description
This trail is one of 67 wheelchair accessible trails across Switzerland described on the Mobility International Switzerland website:
The path along the embankment begins at Ottenbach, on the border between the cantons of Aargau and Zürich. This elevated path runs alongside the River Reuss to Rottenschwil and reveals magnificent views of a beautiful natural environment. At Ottenbach, at the beginning of the route, a bridge crosses the Reuss. This is where you gain a first impression of the river that is known for it’s rapids and untamed surroundings. Even from the bridge, the river’s imposing size and presence are tangible. This is an impression that is further emphasized along the entire route by the primal, lush riverside landscape. The river bank is lined by magnificent trees and wild plants. Along the way you enjoy views of the prominent river on the one hand; on the other hand there are views of sweeping fields and meadows. Occasionally you pass through stretches of shaded woodland, which offer a welcome, cool respite on hot days. The small wetland areas, in which you can discover different species of lush plants and – with a little luck – even wild animals, are particularly enchanting. On the bridge at the end of the route in Rottenschwil, you can take leave for the last time from the Reuss, your faithful companion on this excursion.Accessibility Information
