Mobility Information:"There are 4 designated wheelchair spaces in the orchestra stalls for visitors with limited mobility with a companion seat. In addition, there are up to 18 designated wheelchair spaces with a companion seat on the balcony. High in demand, the seats are allocated in writing on a first-come, first-served basis by the reservation office."
Access
"The barrier-free access to the building is located at Herbert v. Karajan square at the beginning of the arcades on the right next to Café Oper Wien (swinging door 87 cm wide).
You can reach the orchestra stalls (“Parkett”) level and the access to the lift to the balcony via the inclined lift in the area of Café Oper Wien. From there the lift to the balcony is directly accessible (width 95 cm, depth 140 cm, clearance 80 cm). Both lifts are serviced by ushers. On both levels there are disabled toilets.
From the “Best in Parking“ underground car park at Kärnterstrasse (with 2 disabled parking spaces) there is a lift to Herbert von Karajan Platz. Another lift from the underground car park takes you directly into the opera building, but is not accessible for all wheelchairs owing to its dimensions (depth 1.15 m, width 1.55 m, clearance to exit 80 cm)."
Guided tours for mobility-impaired visitors
"Naturally, you can also join a guided tour if you are a wheelchair user. Individuals need not register in advance, just present yourself at the entrance (corner Operngasse) 15 minutes ahead of time.
