Accessible & Inclusive Forward Businesses Recognised at the Australian Tourism Awards

The Australian Tourism Awards were held on 18 March, and while there is currently no dedicated category rewarding accessibility, we were thrilled to see some accessible & inclusive businesses take out awards, including some who are listed on GetAboutAble.

The National Arboretum Canberra, one of our Canberra: More than inclusive, more than accessible campaign partners, won a SILVER in the Tourist Attractions. While Oakvale Wildlife Park took out the BRONZE in the same category

Other highlights included:

  • The National Gallery of Australia winning SILVER in the Major Festivals and Events category for Botticelli to Van Gogh: Masterpieces from the National Gallery, London exhibition.
  • The Royal Australian Mint claiming BRONZE in Cultural Tourism.
  • MACq 01 Hotel, steeped in history and story with award-winning accessibility they are proud to promote on their website, was awarded SILVER in the 4– 4.5 Star Accommodation category.

We hope to see an Accessibility category in the future to recognise those striving for excellence in being accessible & inclusive and to motivate others to step up their game and be proudly accessible.

We congratulate all of the winners and encourage them to promote their accessibility, listing on getaboutable.com is a good starting point.
