It is the largest butterfly flight aviary and exhibit in Australia.
Home to over 1500 magnificent tropical butterflies, you’ll be enchanted by the aerial dynamics of these elusive wonders of nature as you wander through the aviary’s rainforest gardens. Our butterflies include local rainforest species, including the majestic green & yellow Cairns Birdwing.

You can catch the regular shuttle bus to Rainforestation, departing from right outside Australian Butterfly Sanctuary.
Mobility accessibility further information:Both the aviary and the laboratory are wheelchair accessible, however, some wheelchairs may struggle getting around the uneven paths in the aviary. We recommend the companion of the visitor to have a quick look at the path prior to entry. There are ramps between the aviary and the laboratory.
