Description
This trail is one of 67 wheelchair accessible trails across Switzerland described on the Mobility International Switzerland website:
This route starts in Ebnat-Kappel and leads along the idyllic banks of the River Thur to Wattwil. An easy route in the middle of an intact natural world, which thanks to the impressive mountains on the horizon offers fascinating scenery. From Ebnat-Kappel the route first begins on a surfaced path and quickly reaches the tranquil banks of the River Thur. The rare flowers and plants lining the river banks are particularly attractive. The picturesque, natural scene is perfectly enhanced by the mountain landscape. The easily identifiable Churfirsten, Säntis and Stockberg peaks tower majestically over the region. Alternatingly passing pastures and meadows, you unhurriedly make your way alongside the well-known river. Time and again you come across inviting, peaceful spots where you can take a break. On the way, depending on your mood, you can also stop at the restaurant at Hotel Kapplerhof, which is well signposted. Time and time again the views in this lush, green valley leave an impression of a tranquil region. Now and then you come across a farmstead typical of the region. Many native animals have their habitats here. Accompanied by the gently babbling Thur, you continue alongside the river until you reach Wattwil. The open, sun-drenched valley is also well worth visiting in spring and autumn.Accessibility Information
