Description
This trail is one of 67 wheelchair accessible trails across Switzerland described on the Mobility International Switzerland website:
The mighty Rhine Falls delight every nature lover with a powerful interplay of water. This circular route leads through the attractive region, past Schloss Laufen (castle) and along the idyllic banks of the Rhine. The starting point is the village of Dachsen, from where you soon reach the natural world. The path runs between lush green meadows and open fields to Laufen. You catch wonderul views of the surroundings and enjoy blissful silence until you approach the roar of the biggest waterfall in Europe. Schloss Laufen makes a stunning scene. The castle appears to hover majestically above the Rhine Falls, impervious to the overwhelming power of the raging waters at its feet. An excellent opportunity to take a break and admire this unique natural spectacle. The pitching boats that periodically approach the roaring falls appear almost surreal. The route continues along the magnificent banks of the Rhine though a stretch of light forest. You are always accompanied by the river, now gently flowing now foaming as it surges over boulders. Along the way you constantly see the imposing waterfall from a new angle, views that cast a spell on every observer. After Neuhausen and Nohl you cross a bridge towards Dachsen.Accessibility Information
