Unterwasser is the starting point of this route. It leads you leisurely through Toggenburg territory and along the riverbank through the enchanting Thurtal Valley to Starkenbach. An exceptionally picturesque route for true lovers of untouched nature.Accompanied by the gently lapping Thur you can wander from village to village. The route leads from Unterwasser via Alt St. Johann to Starkenbach. The tranquil villages blend perfectly into their surroundings thanks to their period architecture. Some of the pretty timber houses have attached rustic water wheels that you can stop and admire. Between the villages you are surrounded by lush, green meadows and vivid fields that seem to never end. You will really feel you are on holiday amidst this peaceful and romantic landscape. The majestic Toggenburg peaks on the horizon serve to additionally accentuate the captivating scenery. The river bank is carpeted with a large variety of wild plants. Now and then, you catch a glimpse of a farmhouse on the gently rolling hills and several breath-taking views over this peaceful region, until you finally reach Starkenbach.
